cloudburst is Tim Westcott from Portland, Oregon. On his first release "katedra", he operates with very minimal, subtle drones and little repetitive elements, shifting into each other. Originally written for a performance in cathedral space, the first two pieces ("katedra jeden", "katedra dwa") are very light, crystal and create a wide open, meditative soundscape. The third piece ("flora") is a more dense production, just taking you back from the big, enormous "katedra"...

What an enormous output this year by Jason Corder aka offthesky. He has given us two great releases on term and autoplate. Now he returns with a 4-track-EP on Resting Bell. Musically related to the "Du Soleil ep" on atmoworks, "rare decay" presents four careful though stunning pieces. The entire release from beginning to end is a perfect compliment to lying down and watching the clouds lilt by. Or like listlessly gazing on a silent snow fall...

Lost Lanterns is the project of Ian Hawgood and Ben Jones. Both met at university and worked together in different bands, now teamed up to work alone on their music using live instrumentation, field recordings and computers. The first result of their work is "Polar Living", a 60-minute long, very atmospheric release with six tracks. It's a gentle combination of deep melodic keyboard elements with field recordings (made entirely in the UK countryside during autumn/winter time)...
